Is BuildBoss really free for subcontractors?
Yes. Bidders are listed in our directory free and get free access to BuildBoss. You can receive invitations to bid, view every document on a project, confirm your bid status and submit your bid to the general contractor through the system. There is no subscription on your side.
What do I get out of being in the bidder directory?
General contractors search that directory when they build a bid list. Being listed — with your trades and where you work — is how a GC who has never used you finds you in the first place. Listing costs nothing.
Who can see my numbers?
Your bid is between you and the general contractor you sent it to. We do not share it with other bidders on the job, or with anyone else. If it goes any further, it is because the contractor you sent it to passed it on.
Do I have to wait for an invitation to bid?
No. You can search BuildBoss for projects that are open for public bidding and go after those yourself, whether or not anyone invited you.
How do I send my bid?
Through BuildBoss, to the general contractor who invited you. You can also keep your bid status up to date as you go — bidding, not bidding — so the GC is not chasing you for an answer and you are not missing the cut for being quiet.
Where do I find the drawings and specs?
On the project itself. Every bid document the general contractor uploads is there to view and download, and when they issue an addendum you get it too — so you are not pricing an outdated set.
